Participants: Yang, Yong, Jackie, Aaron, Yan, Wendy, Agnes, Jeffery
We began with the one minute speeches.
Yan told everyone about the news of the death of a 3 year old boy who died from heatstroke due to being left in a car by his parents. Yong talked about the death of his friend’s friend’s 18 year old paralyzed son. Yang gave her thoughts on the meaning of life, and how every life is different, even if people think it’s all the same. Jackie shared with us news of people freezing their bodies upon their death in hopes of being revived in the future. Wendy elaborated on a fundraising event at her workplace, and how people made hats and decorations to raise money for sick children. Agnes gave her thoughts on a new interactive program her school had, in which they put several car tires and stuff on the field. Jeffrey described a book he was reading called ‘Dragon Something’, which was about a Chinese boy who went to America to find his father.
Later, everyone talked about Chapter 8 in the book ‘Emily Post’s Etiquette’, and debated on whether it was appropriate to use cell phones in a restaurant or not. This led to a discussion about technology and how it was taking over human life.
Finally, we talked about the Royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and the Queen Elizabeth the second. Everyone expressed their opinions about the monarchy and their relationship to Canada.
