The East&West Dialogue with Tore and Marilyn Eriksen

Tore and Marilyn Eriksen have been married over 40 years.  They have two sons who are both vegan, in their 20’s and living at home.

Marilyn was born and raised in Toronto with Italian and Ukrainian heritage.  She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from University of Toronto, and a certificate in Public Health from Ryerson Polytechnic Institute.  Before retirement, she worked in Quality Control and Quality Assurance, Compliance and Enforcement, conducting Risk Assessment for Industry and Government in food, pharmaceutical and the environment.  Marilyn is actively involved with Citizen’s Climate lobby bringing environmental concerns to the attention of our political leaders.  She likes Dance, Theatre, Music, Arts and Science, Camping and Hiking.

 

Tore was born in Norway, and moved to Canada at the age of 3.  He grew up in rural Ontario, and has lived in Toronto since age 17.  Tore has a diploma in Industrial Engineering from Ryerson Polytechnic Institute, and MBA from York University.  Before he retired, Tore  worked mostly as a management consultant in a wide variety of industries.  He worked 17 years in management positions for a general insurance company.  Tore’s hobbies include dance, racquet sports, bridge, yoga, cycling, camping and hiking.

 

On November 15, Tore and Marilyn will come to our club to share their stories and thoughts on work, everyday life and the society.  We will have a dynamic discussion over extensive topics, from climate change, healthy diet, the evolving societal divides , social media’s affect on society, to how to deal with work challenges and people with tact…  Again we will turn our meeting room into a living room, and have free, warm conversations with our guests!  Everyone in the community is welcome!

 

When: Thursday November 15, 2018

6:30 – 7:00 PM  Meals & social

7:00 – 8:30 PM  Dialogue begins

 

Where: Iroquois Junior Public School

265 Chartland Blvd., Scarborough (near Finch & Brimley; free parking lot at the west side of the school building)

 

Cost: Free, including a simple meal.  A donation of a loonie or a toonie from each participant would be appreciated.
