The East&West Dialogue with Educator Gurus

As a student, have you ever experienced problems at school that you choose to ignore even though they are bothering you, because you don’t think anyone can really help you out?

As a parent, have you worried about the problems your child seem to have at school, but don’t know what is the best way to communicate with parties involved, and have an effective solution?

What are some of the Canadian etiquette and customs that we as immigrants may not be aware of, but ar crucial if we want to win respect and understanding from others, and in turn, not only make us feel good, but also make it probably easier to get things done?

Come and join the East&West Dialogue at the East and West Learning Club, and walk home with insiders’ tips to the issues in question!

The East&West Dialogue is a special event we organize once a month to bring in the perspectives, experience and expertise of local people, and to promote mutual understanding between communities of different cultural backgrounds.  This month we proudly present Mr. Terry Singh and Mr. Rawl Chan as our guest speakers:

Terry has served 14 years as Principal in five different schools (K-5, K-8, gr. 7-8) in Scarborough/Etobicoke/North York/Toronto.  He has taught in elementary and secondary schools and cares deeply about the role equity/inclusion and parent/community engagement plays in improving the lives of students and families.  Terry’s daughter attended TDSB schools.

Rawl has in his 17th year of teaching, 10 of which has been working with students with Special Needs. He taught in Scarborough schools, teaching grades K-8, along with teaching in Intensive Support Programs for students with severe learning challenges. Currently he is at Henry Kelsey Sr PS teaching the Autism program.  Rawl is very involved in school activities, such as Sports teams and other special interest clubs.

The Two guru educators as well as loving parents themselves would also be happy to take questions that you would like to take the advantage and ask on the spot!
