是次講座由香港樹仁大學中國語言文學系張喜儀博士擔任主講嘉賓,介紹《世說新語·賢媛篇》中女名士的嘉言軼事。

Wei-Jin (220-420 AD) was a remarkable period in Imperial China, prolific with distinguished literati of formidable talent and charisma. In this talk, we focus on the outstanding female figures recorded in the “Worthy Ladies” 賢媛 of A New Account of the Tales of the World.

On the Speaker:

Anthea Cheung, PhD holder in Far East Studies (EPEH-Sorbonne), is currently Assistant Professor at the Department of Chinese Language & Literature of Hong Kong Shue Yan University. Her research interests include Pre-Qin schools, unearthed materials during the Pre-Qin and early Han periods, Wei-Jin society and metaphysics, and Pure Land Buddhism.

About the Book:

Shishuo Xinyu世說新語 (A New Account of the Tales of the World) was compiled by Liu Yiqing (403444) and his retainers during the Song period (420-479) of the Northern and Southern Dynasties (420589). It tells about the stories of many outstanding literati (mingshi) between the late Eastern Han (25-220) and Eastern Jin (317-420) periods.
