At East and West Learning Connections (the Organization), we promote life experience and thought exchange between people of different cultural backgrounds at an individual level. While we greatly appreciate our guest speakers kindly taking the time to share their life stories, thoughts, concerns, and/or suggestions with our audience, the guest speakers’ opinions do not necessarily represent those of the Organization’s. We encourage our audience always to exercise critical thinking, and have frank dialogues with guest speakers as well as with one another, and the Organization.

EAWLC The East&West Dialogue with Ian White and Wayne Henshall

The East&West Dialogue is a special event we organize once a month to bring in the perspectives, experience and expertise of local people, and to promote mutual understanding between communities of different cultural backgrounds.  This May, we proudly present Mr. Ian White and Mr. Wayne Henshall as our guest speakers.  Come to hear what they have to say about cultural difference at work and in life, unconscious bias, collaboration, transformation, leadership , and more!  Even better, come with as many questions as possible to get the most from our guests, and make the night a truly interactive event! Marcia Dunbar has served University of Toronto, Seneca College, Career Edge and other organizations, promot

ing respectful workplaces in HR planning, operations and independent consulting roles for over 15 years.  She is passionate about helping young people understand the new world of work, and has Over 8 years supporting and teaching recent grads to kick start their careers through paid internships and job search strategies.  Now a mother of 2, Marcia Grew up in Scarborough, and attended Henry Kelsey, Agincourt CI and  Albert Campbell CI.  She said she would be very happy to come back to the community, and share her experience and knowledge with us.

Participants: Eric, Michelle, Yang

Participants first did their presentations. Since there were less participants than usual, the time limit of presentations were raised to two minutes and there were no time limit for topic discussions. Participants talked about the education difference between China and Canada, the school life of students, and book events. Participants then discussed about the chapter of “Living With Neighbours”. You should be friendly to your neighbours and respect their living space. Participants also shared their experiences with their neighbours.
