Poly-Translation: From Art to Poetry to Film

Come to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the City of Mississauga with its Inaugural Poet Laureate through poetry, art, and film!

This free Zoom meeting is hosted by Anna Yin and supported by East and West Learning Connections.

What:

  1. Showcase samples of visual interpretation of art, poetry, and film (the first hour)
  2. Participants join interlingual discussions of sample work (the second hour)

Anna Yin’s bio

 

Anna Yin was Mississauga’s Inaugural Poet Laureate (2015-17) and has authored five poetry collections and three books of translations. Anna won the 2005 Ted Plantos Memorial Award, two MARTYs, two USA scholarships, and Arts Council grants. Her poems/translations have appeared at Queen’s Quarterly, ARC Poetry, New York Times, China Daily, CBC Radio, Literary Review of Canada, and other magazines.  She read on Parliament Hill, at Austin International Poetry Festival, Edmonton Poetry Festival and universities in China, Canada and USA. She hosted poetry and art workshops in-person & online since 2011.
